Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is established under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. The Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 has made FSSAI registration mandatory for food business operators and food products which is a centralizing statute related to food safety and regulation in India. FSSAI is responsible for protecting and advertising public health through the regulation and supervision of food safety.

FSSAI Registration Central License
Food business operators like 100% Export Oriented Units, large manufacturers, importers, food business operators in Central Government Agencies, airport, seaport, etc., use to obtain FSSAI registration from central government.
FSSAI Registration State License
Food business operators like small to medium-sized manufacturing units, storage, transporters, retailers, marketers, distributors, etc., use to obtain FSSAI registration from the state government.

Food business operators who are food manufacturers can obtain registration under this scheme from the state government by submitting minimal documents.
Yes, there is a registration fee of Rs.100/- to be paid by FBO.
“Recall” means action taken to remove a marketed food from distribution, sale and consumption which is unsafe and violate the provisions of the Act and the rules & regulations made thereunder. The purpose is to prevent, reduce or eliminate a risk arising from food to the consumer.
A Food Safety Management System (FSMS) is a network of interrelated elements that combine to ensure that food does not cause adverse human health effects. These elements include programs, plans, policies, procedures, practices, processes, goals, objectives, methods, controls, roles, responsibilities, relationships, documents, records, and resources.
